Year-Round Facilities

Brown Bear Lodge

Brown Bear is an energy efficient building that sleeps 40. Complete with kitchen and two bathrooms with flush toilets and showers.  There is a large firecircle with amphitheater, and a smaller firecircle nearby. Wheelchair accessible.

 

Upper Emerson

Upper Emerson is used for activity and dining space. The commercial kitchen is available for an extra fee. There is also a fireplace.

 

Lower Emerson

Sleeps 36 on mattresses.  Has flush toilets, refrigerator, stove, microwave and fireplace.

 

Catherine Allen Lodge

Sleeping capacity is 16. The lodge is complete with kitchen, fireplace, flush toilets and showers. There is a firecircle nearby.  Wheelchair accessible.

 

Seasonal Facilities
(Available mid-April through mid-October)

Hilltop Lodge

Hilltop is heated and sleeps 20 on mattresses. It has a kitchen and flush toilets and shower.  There is a firecircle outside. 

 

Village Units

Four village units each sleep 28 total in four cabins.  These units are Bear, Fawn, Moose and Panther. The Fawn Village Unit is wheelchair accessible.  There are showerhouses with flush toilets and showers near each unit. Each is connected with a pavilion and picnic tables and is equipped with a refrigerator.  There are firecircles for each unit.

 

South Unit

In the south area of Yaiewano, the platform tent unit sleeps 28.  The showerhouse in the Fawn Village Unit is nearby. There are two firecircles and tables.

 

Primitive Site

You can pitch tents to sleep up to 30 persons.  There is a firecircle, pavilion with tables and a latrine.

 

 

 
Features

Located on the east side of Owasco Lake south of Auburn, Yaiewano is set on a hill with a lake and beachfront, woods and fields for plenty of adventure.  The site is available year-round, with limited use during summer months when council resident camp is in session.

Activities

The lodges can hold a multitude of activities.  Additional amenities include an amphitheater, arts and crafts pavilion and large playing field.  Favorite activities include swimming, boating, hiking, sledding and snowshoeing,  field games, archery, creek walks and cook-outs. For using watercraft and swimming, you must provide a certified adult lifeguard.
