As a way to honor the rich Native American history in their areas, many Girl Scout councils name their summer camp programs using Native American words. We're pleased to carry on that tradition and introduce you to Camp Agaliha (Ah-ga-lee-ha). We can't wait to welcome you to this camp, which is named after the Cherokee word for "sunshine."
Camp Agaliha will include day and resident camp programs, and is located on the Boy Scouts' Camp Kingsley property in Ava, just outside of Rome, NY. Best of all, we have coordinated schedules with the Boy Scouts to ensure there will be NO BOYS on the property while we are there! That means it will be just us girls enjoying sunny days and starry nights at camp.
The camp location, which is bordered by the Point Rock State Forest, is handicap accessible and was used by Girl Scouts in our council many years ago. We're excited that a new generation of Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to make a lifetime of memories at Camp Agaliha!
