Program and Event Registration Pointers :
Many times troop leaders will arrange to have all of their girls attend an advertised program together. We are always excited to see whole troops participating in our Council programs. I would like to also stress the value of Girl Scouts attending Council programs and events with their family or friends. If your whole troop cannot attend a program in Girls on the Go, girls can register separately and attend most programs with a family member, registered Girl Scout friend or on their own. Parents, in addition to troop leaders, can register their child for Council events, even if their whole troop is not participating.
There are many ways to register for our Council events. Every edition of Girls on the Go!! contains an Event Registration Form. On the top of this form you, or the parent of the Girl Scout attending, will write the name and information for the program you wish to attend. In the middle of the form, you will list the names, addresses, contact information, and Girl Scout level (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Studio2B) for each Girl Scout registering for the event. Near the bottom of the form, you will fill out the type of payment you are making. You can use the girls’ PDC’s (Program Discount Certificates earned from the cookie program activity), a check, cash or a credit card. You can drop off or mail the Event Registration Form, with payment, to the Council Office: Girl Scouts-Foothills Council, 33 Jewett Pl., Utica, NY 13501 or fax your registration with payment to 315-733-1909.
We hope to see your troop or daughter, at many of our upcoming Council events. We make memories, new friends and have a lot of fun!
Some Guidelines for Making the Best of Council Events:
- Each advertised program has a contact person listed. Please call the contact person if you have any questions about the program
- The contact person cannot register you for an event over the phone. To register for a council event the office must receive an event registration form with payment. You can mail or drop off the event registration form, with payment, to the Council office: Girl Scouts-Foothills Council, Inc. 33 Jewett Pl. Utica, NY 13501 or fax the form and pay with a credit card or PDC‘s to 315-733-1909.
- Please register for events before the deadline date listed for each program. We work with many community agencies and attractions to provide fun events for our Girl Scouts. Many of these places require us to give them a final count of attendees weeks ahead of time. In addition, we must order patches and buy supplies ahead of time so we need a final count at least two weeks ahead of time for most programs. Some larger programs and events may even have a deadline three weeks or more before the program takes place. We do this to ensure that each Girl Scout attending will receive a quality program.
- Whole troops can register for programs together or girls can attend programs without their troop members.
- Whenever we can, we encourage adults to participate in our programs at no cost. Unfortunately, sometimes we must also charge adults for participating in our programs. This usually happens when the attraction or agency we are working with charges us for the adults attending. You may notice during badge nights adults are usually encouraged to participate for free, but on bus trips or trips to the zoo, museums, amusements parks, kids and family shows, etc. adults are also charged a fee for attending.
- Girls can use their PDC’s (Program Discount Certificates) earned from participating in the cookie program activity to pay for council programs and events. Sisters can share their PDC’s, if both sisters participated in the cookie program activity. However, Girl Scouts’ PDC’s cannot be used by their parents, friends or other Girl Scouts.
- Register early- many of our events fill up fast!
