How You Can Volunteer…

Cookie Kick-off Volunteer
Assist with the Annual Cookie Kick-Off, helping with booth activities and general set-up, and break-down of the event. Must be able to commit to one 4-hour day in early January.

Council Program Facilitator
Facilitate short-term in school or after school council programs, such as “Zink the Zebra” and bike safety programs.

Interest Project Consultant
Facilitate a project focusing on a specific skill or interest with a council-wide group of Girl Scouts or a specific Service Unit/Association. This episodic time commitment is determined by the volunteer.

Event Coordinator
Coordinate trips and events for a Unit or Association. Typically, this is a one-year term that may be reappointed.

Event Chaperone
Provide supervision at Troop, Unit or council events. This episodic commitment depends on the events planned and an individual’s interest and availability.

Nature Hike Guide
Guide nature hikes at camp. Flexible time commitments are available in spring, fall and/or winter, 3-4 hours per session.

First Aider, Level I; First Aider, Level II
Primary adult who has taken Girl Scout council-approved first aid and CPR training (at applicable level) for the Girl Scout group activities. This episodic commitment varies based on availability and Troop, Unit, Council planned events.

Fund Development
Support council efforts to receive financial reports. One-year term may be re-appointed annually.

Office Support
Assist with basic collating, copy work, and preparation of bulk mailings. Time commitment varies; volunteer needs to be available in the fall and/or spring, along with a willingness to help at other times.

Unit QSP Coordinator
Coordinates the QSP program within the Unit and trains the troop QSP representatives, requires 1-2 days per week from September to early December.

Troop Organizer
Recruit, organize and maintain troops at each age-level within the Unit. One-year term may be re-appointed annually.

Unit Cookie Manager
Coordinates the Cookie program within the Unit and trains the troop cookie managers. Must participate in fall training and commit to the program from early-January to mid-April.

Community Relations Representative
Support council public relations through a promotional plan for the Unit that informs the local community of Girl Scout activities and provides a consistent positive image of Girl Scouts. One-year term may be re-appointed annually.

Training and Recognitions Liaison
Organize and track individual training and recognition records. One-year term, with the majority of efforts in the late-spring and early-fall.

Service Unit Secretary
Provides records of service team and service unit meetings, sends meeting notices and performs other administrative duties as needed. One-year term may be re-appointed annually.

Troop / Service Unit Treasurer
Maintains financial records and is accountable for funds for a troop or unit. One-year term may be re-appointed annually.

Information and Statistics Collector
Individual will gather and maintain various statistics and contacts related to girls within the council from Community Profile Task Groups; requires 12-15 hours per month from February to April.

Community Profile Task Member
Gather and maintain various statistics and contacts related to a specific community; requires 12-15 hours per month from February to April.


 

All Girl Scout Volunteers participate in an orientation to Girl Scouts and training specific for their position.

In addition to the trainings necessary to successfully fulfill your commitment, we offer many free and low cost enrichment opportunities. Typically, there are no prerequisites for enrichment and any adult member of Girl Scouts can participate.
